Hello everyone. It’s been a long time since we updated this site but we just got caught up doing other stuff. I FINALLY updated the images and video from our wedding. You can check it all out at the Wedding Media page. Thanks to our videographer Justin Element and photographer Dinela Photography for doing a great job in recording this special day.
Happy May Day! Invitations were sent out about a week ago so hopefully you all received yours. We got a lot of positive feedback on our invites which is always a good thing to hear. We felt like we had to make a statement and go all out with these invites since that’s what we are known for. Don’t forget to complete the RSVP and send it back to us. Now that the invites are done, we are pressing on with the other wedding projects. I’d like to thank everyone who came over on our Wedding Craft Day and helped us complete some projects. If Leslie and I were the only ones doing them, it would have taken another few weeks to finish. We got a few surprises for everyone at the wedding so if you enjoyed the invitations a lot, hopefully the rest of the things we have in store for you won’t disappoint.
As usual, I want to remind you guys to register at Morongo if you plan to stay overnight before the prices go up again. Head over to the Accommodations Page for more information. For those who might be interested, I was told that you are able to ask for a crib at Morongo for your baby if needed. I’m not sure if there’s a cost to it or if it’s free of charge but at least it’s available.
We are back into production as we work on our invitations. Designing, printing, cutting and all the challenges that come with being your average DIY builder. Here’s a look from inside the JL Creative studios with us hard at work.
I was just notified that prices for Morongo just went up. Hopefully those of you looking into booking a room there took advantage of reserving rooms early to avoid the price hikes. The later you wait, the better chances you will be paying significantly more.
Not enough hours in the day and never enough days on the week. We have been busy the last few weeks/months working on wedding plans. Only 118 days left until the big day and it feels like we have a grasp on a lot of things and yet there’s still a good amount of work to be done. Invitations are underway at least. Can’t wait to see how these guys turn out!
Just a reminder for everyone. If you plan to reserve a room at Morongo with us, I advise you to book your rooms ASAP. Room rates do fluctuate and tend to go higher the later you reserve. If you sign up for a Winner’s Club membership, you may need to wait for a letter sent via post mail to receive your member ID. This enables you to reserve a room at a 15% discounted rate online. Otherwise you may not be able to get a discount unless you are a AAA member. You may then be able to get a 10% discount. Only one discount maybe be applied.

My Alfred Angelo Dress
When I was searching for a dress back in the summer of last year, I had a vision of what kind of dress I’d pick. As I tried dresses on, none of them really felt right or gave me the feeling that brides on TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress! get. I guess that feeling just isn’t “me”.
Fast forward to October, I decided to go to Alfred Angelo’s in Huntington Beach. Each dress I put on was hideous on me… maybe, just maybe wedding dresses just don’t work on me. Lori, my bridal consultant, brought a dress into the fitting room. I looked it as she handed to me. In my head, I just thought “wow, that’s ugly!” I put it on anyways. There weren’t any mirrors in the fitting rooms, so I really didn’t know how awful this dress really looks on me. But it was just ugly. As I walked out, my mom’s face changed. “It can’t be the dress!”, I thought to myself. It just can’t be… it’s ugly… until I saw myself in the mirror.
Of course, the indecisive person that I am, I walked out of the store empty handed. I just wasn’t sure if it is “the one”. I went to another bridal shop and tried on dresses and thought I found “the one” there. I made a come back visit and thought I’d bring in another eye, Natasha, my MOH. We went to Alfred Angelo’s first and I didn’t tell her which dress everyone seemed to like. I tried on other dresses first, one of which I really liked but wasn’t “me”. I came out with the “ugly dress” and Natasha had tears in her eyes. I knew then that it had to be the one. My mom’s face changed and my best friend had tears in her eyes. They both can’t be wrong. I never went to the other shop to try on any more dresses. My search was over.
As a prize for surviving a painful (yes it was!) wisdom teeth extraction, I bought my dress in November. Exactly four months later, I was able to pick up my dress today. It was an exciting feeling. It’s becoming so real and happening so fast. I do feel accomplished.
